BHCC is a non-governmental organization based in Puntland, Somalia, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable communities through sustainable development, capacity building, and protective care initiatives. Founded in 2024, BHCC aims to empower individuals and communities to build resilient futures in the face of ongoing socio-economic challenges.

Youth Empowerment Workshops

Our comprehensive workshops focus on practical skills development in high-demand sectors such as information technology, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and trades. Participants engage in hands-on training, utilizing modern tools and techniques to enhance their skill sets. Each workshop culminates in a certification process, providing youth with credentials that improve their employability. Additionally, we incorporate soft skills training, covering communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are essential for workplace success.

Mentorship Programs

We facilitate a structured mentorship program that pairs young individuals with industry professionals, community leaders, and educators. Mentors provide guidance, career advice, and networking opportunities, helping mentees navigate their educational and career paths. The program includes regular check-ins, workshops on personal development, and networking events, fostering lasting relationships that inspire confidence and ambition. We also promote peer mentorship, encouraging young participants to support one another in their journeys.

Community Development

Our community development initiatives address systemic challenges such as poverty, inadequate healthcare, and limited access to education. We undertake projects that build essential infrastructure, including schools, health clinics, and clean water systems. We engage community members in the planning and implementation phases to ensure that projects meet local needs and are sustainable. Additionally, our agricultural programs support local farmers with training in sustainable practices and access to resources, enhancing food security and economic resilience.

Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns

BHCC actively campaigns for youth rights and empowerment through awareness programs that address critical issues such as education, mental health, and gender equality. We organize community forums, public speaking events, and social media campaigns to engage the public and policymakers. Our advocacy efforts also include partnerships with local NGOs and government bodies to influence policy changes that benefit youth, ensuring that their voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes.

Protection and Care

We prioritize the protection of vulnerable populations, especially women, children, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Our protection programs include legal aid services to assist victims of abuse, as well as psychosocial support to help individuals recover from trauma. We conduct awareness campaigns on gender-based violence and child rights, educating communities about the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals. Collaborating with local authorities and NGOs, we create safe spaces for individuals in need of refuge and support.

Educational Sponsorship

Our educational sponsorship program provides scholarships, tutoring, and learning resources to underprivileged youth. We assess individual needs and tailor support to remove barriers to education, such as financial constraints, transportation issues, and lack of learning materials. By facilitating access to quality education, we aim to improve academic performance and increase graduation rates among participants. Additionally, we offer career counseling to help students transition successfully from education to employment.

Psychosocial Support Services

Recognizing the mental health challenges many young people face, we offer comprehensive psychosocial support services. This includes individual and group counseling sessions, stress management workshops, and community support groups focused on resilience-building. We train staff and volunteers in mental health first aid, ensuring that they can identify and respond to the needs of youth effectively. Our programs aim to reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues and promote overall well-being in the community.

Entrepreneurship Development

Our entrepreneurship development initiative empowers young aspiring business owners with training in business planning, financial literacy, and marketing strategies. We provide access to microloans and grants to help start small businesses, along with ongoing mentorship to guide them through the early stages of entrepreneurship. This program fosters innovation, job creation, and economic growth within the community, encouraging youth to become self-reliant and contribute to local economies.

Community Outreach

We prioritize community engagement through outreach programs that include workshops, seminars, and interactive community forums. These initiatives aim to raise awareness about the challenges youth face and create supportive networks among families, educators, and community leaders. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, we build a stronger support system for young people. Our outreach efforts also include partnerships with schools and community centers to ensure broader access to our programs and services.

Civic Engagement and Leadership Training

To cultivate a sense of civic responsibility, we offer leadership training programs that empower youth to become active participants in their communities. This includes workshops on governance, civic rights, and community organizing, equipping young individuals with the skills necessary to advocate for their needs and drive positive change. We encourage youth to engage in volunteer opportunities and community service projects, fostering a culture of giving back and active citizenship.

Key Activities

Collaborated with Kiyan Education and the Elit Language Centre to offer 12 recorded English courses.

Provided flexible learning opportunities to reach a wider audience.

Since our inception, BH Community Care has reached hundreds of young individuals, providing them with essential resources and support. Our programs have resulted in improved educational outcomes, increased employability, and enhanced self-esteem among participants.
